When It Rains - Verain, age 16
When It Rains
By Verain, age 16
I love it when it rains,
When the sunlight,
Just doesn't shine as bright,
And yet,
The world outside my window,
It turns such a vibrant shade of green,
A shade that I couldn't have seen,
If not for spring rain
I love it when it rains,
So I sit by the window,
Coffee or tea in hand,
And write or draw the day away,
And sometimes,
I'll open the windows,
To listen to it fall,
Or smell the outdoors,
The only time it smells like this,
Right when the rain stops and it settles in,
And the breeze brings more than the sweet, damp scent to me,
It brings this inexplicable peace
I love it when it rains,
Because so often I am without,
Without this inexplicable peace,
Without full, calm moments to think and to write in,
Without the scent of Earth and rain,
When the skies are dark,
But the Earth has brightened,
Started glowing in its own light,
Its own hues and ever-growing beauty
